A Sweet Escape

The Nordic Nature Spa is what I imagine Heaven to be like. It's been a few years, but it's worth the throwback because forgetting about this experience is not something I want to do.

I didn't have the highest of expectations after reading some reviews online where some folks complained about the crowds, noise and cleanliness - but we really lucked out and had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend visiting during the week and avoiding busy times like long weekends and holidays.

When we arrived we we're given a fluffy white robe, flip flops and a wrist band which gave us access to food, drinks and a locker. We locked our phones and our other belongings away for the day, changed into our swimsuits and went outside. It was snowing and magical, can you picture it? People walking around in white robes, steam rolling off the hot tubs and waterfalls everywhere... Quiet little areas here and there with folks sitting beside fire pits reading, meditating or napping in hammocks. It was like a setting of a one-on-one date you'd see on The Bachelor.

Now that I've painted a picture of this incredible place, I'll take you through the thermal experience. We started by entering one of the eucalyptus saunas to settle in and relax. The heat from the sauna really prepared us for the next station, which was a salt room where we could exfoliate with eucalyptus infused salt. Lovely if you get some help with that, by the way. You then stand under barrels of warm water to shower off before heading back out into the snow to take a plunge through a natural cold spring and waterfall. Moving through hot and cold stations like this is said to improve your immunity and circulation and decrease stress. I never imagined that I'd actually enjoy submerging my body in ice cold water in the dead of winter, but it made the entire experience that much better. We continued this way until eventually we were relaxing in a hot infinity pool drinking whiskey on the rocks, which was especially nice after a few hours of being in the quiet zone.

Moving on to our last station, we were lead underground for the Kalla treatment which is the second largest salt water floating pool in the world. The room was dark and completely silent, and in the distance you can see people floating in the water. You slowly walk into the water and gently lower your body down until you can't help but stretch out and float. The salt content is so high that you're completely weightless and immediately you feel your muscles and joints relax. With your ears under the water you can hear tranquil music playing and as long as your eyes are closed, you feel like you're alone in the Dead Sea... But if you're like me, you'll sneakily find your person in the water and steal a kiss or two. One word, HOT.

After eight whole hours I can't even begin to describe how amazing we felt leaving Le Nordik Nature Spa. We were in awe, felt invigorated and so relaxed that the entire next day of our vacation was a write off to Netflix and Chill. We can't wait to go back.

XO

    1. Oh, it was so incredible I have to write about the entire experience in a separate post. I think it belongs on every spa-lover's bucket list!
